Contrary to what many think, life is hard for everybody. What changes from individual to individual is the nature of the difficulty. Some days are particularly bad for each person. When someone is having a bad day, pour not your philosophy or small talk! Instead, stay quiet, sit next to them and gently let them know that you are there.
